The Bahamas Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration recently released a warning to their citizens that are expecting to travel to the U.S.
With the recent events that have taken place in Baton Rouge, Minnesota and Dallas, the government of the majority black-Caribbean island released a statement on Friday.
According to CNN, they are advising travelers to stay away from large crowds and demonstrations. They are asking young men specifically to, “exercise extreme caution in affected cities in their interactions with the police … Do not be confrontational and cooperate.”
This warning comes as the island celebrates its Independence Day on Monday, a holiday where many Bahamians plan to travel to the U.S.
Authorities ended their statement by saying, “Pay attention to the public notices and news announcements in the city that you are visiting.”
This is not the first time within the past few months where a country has issued a warning to travelers. Back in April the UK warned its LBGT community following the controversial legislation passed in North Carolina and Mississippi.
