#Roommates, for the last several months health experts have been in a frenzy trying to secure a vaccination for COVID-19—and now it’s only two months away. The Centers For Disease Control has just informed all state governors that a COVID-19 vaccine will be ready to distribute just two days before Election Day.
@CBSNews reports, the CDC recently told state governors to be prepared for the distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine by November 1st, which is two days before Election Day on November 3rd. CDC Director Robert Redfield sent a letter last week to governors, informing them that the U.S. government is contracting with the company McKesson to distribute the vaccine to local health departments and doctors’ offices. Redfield also asked them to expedite any applications for distribution facilities to ensure that there is an adequate number before the vaccine is available.
Apparently, the COVID-19 vaccine also has the support of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. In a recent interview with Kaiser Health News, Fauci said if clinical trials for COVID-19 vaccines produce results that are overwhelmingly positive, scientists would have a “moral obligation” to offer the vaccine by speeding up the process and making it available to all.
Meanwhile, Trump has previously stated that he also expects the COVID-19 vaccine to be ready right before he finds out if he will be elected to serve a second term or be defeated by Joe Biden. I’m optimistic that it’ll be probably around that date. “I believe we’ll have the vaccine before the end of the year, certainly, but around that date, yes, I think so,” he said early last month.
While this vaccine is ready to go for November distribution, most medical experts do not expect widespread vaccinations to be available until early 2021.
