The CEO Of The Franchisee Company To Taco Bell, Wendy’s, & Pizza Hut Reportedly Donated More Than $400K To Trump’s Reelection Campaign

Roommates, cancel culture was on it once reports surfaced that some fast food restaurants donated to Donald Trump’s campaign. #WendysIsOverParty was trending on Twitter as well, as the CEO of its franchisee, Muy! Companies, reportedly donated big money to the cause.

According to Fox Business, James Bodenstedt, CEO of MUY! Companies, has donated $440,000 to Trump’s re-election campaign since January 2019, including $200,00 to the Trump Victory fund back in March.

Muy! Companies is the franchisee to Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and Wendy’s, and while Bodenstedt did donate his coins, it seems as though the backlash is misplaced. A franchisee is merely a company that is granted a license to do business under another company’s trademark or business model. Many users took to Twitter to express their outrage with the fast food brands, despite the companies not being involved in the donations.

Many companies, including Wendy’s, took to Twitter to defend themselves against reports claiming they may have directly given money to Donnie’s re-election campaign.

In a series of tweets, Wendy’s explains that the company is dedicated to the Black Lives Matter cause, and is donating $500,000 to support the Black community through the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. The account also says the company’s Twitter account will be used to as a platform for all things related to “amplify Black voices.”

Most importantly, the company says they did NOT donate a dime to Donald Trump’s campaign, and have never put money toward any presidential campaign.
