The Detroit Pistons Honor Kobe Bryant With Custom No. 8 And No. 24 Jerseys

Many tributes to the late and great Kobe Bryant continue to pour in, and one of the many basketball organizations to pay their respects was the Detroit Pistons.

Monday night before facing off against the Clevland Cavaliers, the team took the time to honor Kobe Bryant. Before the start of the game, the team wore custom black jerseys with either the numbers 8 or 24, with Bryant written in the back. Both are the numbers Kobe wore while playing in the NBA.

As they remembered Kobe, they also had 24 seconds of silence.

According to CBS Sports, the game started off with two violations. “The Cavs won the opening tip and ran the shot clock down 24 seconds to zero. The Pistons responded by spending eight seconds behind the half-court line to give the ball back.”

The Miami Heat and Orlando Magic’s game started a half an hour after the Pistons and Cavs and they also started with violations in his honor. There was also a tribute video shown with 24.8 seconds of silence.

The Minnesota Timberwolves also held an 8-second tribute and held the ball on the free-throw line until the time expired. The moment of silence at the free-throw line represented some of Kobe’s greatest basketball moments, which happened at the free-throw line.

As we previously reported, many people have been pledging for the NBA to change the league’s logo from a silhouette of Jerry West to a silhouette of Kobe. Initially, thousands of people had signed the petition, but the number quickly reached the millions, as people continue to petition for Kobe to be remembered in such a major way.
