The Game Calls Out The Fake Love Surrounding DMX’s Passing

People all over the world continue to mourn and process the untimely passing of rap legend DMX.

As fans celebrate X’s life and blast his music, causing his songs to skyrocket on the charts, conversations about “fake love” almost immediately follow these types of tragic situations.

Fellow artist and DMX’s friend, rapper The Game, exclusively spoke to this just hours after it was announced that DMX didn’t make it. DMX passed away Friday morning at the White Plains Hospital he was being treated at following an overdose and subsequent heart attack.

The Game, echoing the sentiments of others in the rap game, addressed how artists don’t see the love DMX is getting until they pass away.

“N****s really gotta die to get love,” The Game tweeted. “If I can’t feel it while I’m here, keep it. #RIPDMX.”

The Game isn’t saying anything new. There’s a reason why the saying, “give people their flowers while they can still smell them” exists.

But many people did question The Game’s timing, bringing forth a separate conversation about allowing people to celebrate legends when they pass without being ridiculed.

While there were definitely people who agreed with what The Game said, others felt his statement wasn’t necessary.

“Keep your negativity please, we’ve always loved X and he knew it,” one Roommate wrote.

“DMX HAS IMPACT!!! Game, honestly we don’t care bro. This ain’t about you and you should be glad that it ain’t,” another said.

Despite what The Game said, people continued to celebrate DMX’s legacy Friday.

The “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” reached no. 1 on U.S. iTunes, according to Chart Data on Twitter.

On Friday evening, the Ruff Ryders also did a balloon release for X.
