The Human Rights Foundation Criticizes Artists Who Will Perform In Saudi Arabia After Nicki Minaj Cancelled

Roommates, just days after Nicki Minaj takes a stand against the human rights violations happening in Saudi Arabia, the Human Rights Foundation is taking a stand as well!

Nicki was slated to perform at the Jeddah World Fest today, but will not be taking the stage. Instead, she is choosing to stand for women’s rights, and the LGBTQ+ communities. Now, Janet Jackson, Tyga, Chris Brown, 50 Cent, and #uture will be taking the stage.

The Human Rights foundation is calling these artists out, claiming they are choosing money over basic human rights.

“It’s clear, that after losing Nicki Minaj on the basis of the Saudi’s regime’s atrocious human rights record and their treatment of women and the gay community, the Crown Prince has chosen to spend whatever it takes to give the appearance. that things are normal and that this is just another concert,” says Thor Halvorssen, president of the Human Rights Foundation.

According to HRF, Saudi Arabia is shelling out millions of dollars to have these high-profile celebs perform after losing Nicki Minaj. HRF says this is a blatant public relations stunt, and an attempt to distract the Saudi people.

“Saudi is engaged in a sophisticated campaign of distraction,” the statement reads. “It’s baffling to the fans these artists, that despite knowing all of this, they still. intend to perform. It’s profoundly distressing that they have chosen money over morals.”

In an attempt to get these artists to cancel their performances, HRF has written individual letters reminding everyone of their stands on issues such as the Black Lives Matter movement.

“HRF hopes that these artists will stand up for human rights, women’s rights, and the rights of sexual minorities by being outspoken when they take the stage in Saudi Arabia tomorrow,” the letter says.

As we previously reported, Nicki Minaj cancelled her spot on the show shortly after learning about the conditions under which women are held. She takes to Twitter to explain her position and apologize to those who may be offended.
