Thomas Lane, one of the four officers charged for the death of George Floyd, has been released after posting bond on Wednesday.
According to CBS Minnesota, jail records show that he was released from Hennepin County Jail after posting bond. As we previously reported, Lane, along with Tou Thao, and J. Alexander Keung were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder. While Derek Chauvin, the officer who knelt on George’s neck was charged with second-degree murder.
Kare 11 reports that records show that Lane was let go with conditional release. A judge set bail at $1 million without conditions or $750,000 with conditions. The conditions include no firearms, refraining from security or law enforcement work, and supervised release.
Lane, Thao, and Keung are all scheduled to appear in court on June 29th.
Earl Gray, Lane’s attorney, claims that the case against his client is weak and says that during the incident Lane, who was on his fourth day at the job, asked Chauvin if George should be rolled on his side during the incident. He proceeded to say that Lane attempted to give George CPR while he was in the ambulance.
As you all know, the death of Geroge Floyd has led to protests across the world as people pleaded that justice is served in this case and that officers start facing the proper consequences when it comes to police brutality.
On Tuesday, George Floyd’s third and final memorial service was held in Houston before he was laid to rest.
