Tidal Sued For Pregnancy Discrimination And Labor Law Violations

Jay-Z’s music streaming service Tidal has gained another lawsuit, this time they are being sued by a former employee.

According to Billboard, Lisette Paulson worked at Tidal as a label and artist relations consultant from March 2015 to September 2015.

In the court documents that were filed on November 21st, Paulson claims that her rights were violated after she was denied a private room to pump her breast milk. She was later fired from the company a week later.

She is looking for unspecified damages to be determined at trial.

The lawsuit names Tidal, the COO Desiree Perez and its CFO Joe Burrino.

Paulson says that she left for maternity leave after having her baby in May and was granted the opportunity to work from home until she fully returned back to work in September.

She claims that she requested a private place to pump her breast milk and Perez suggested the bathroom and promised to work it out with human resources. Paulson claims that Perez allegedly pulled her out of a meeting and fired her the following day.

Now Paulson is “requesting a jury trial claiming compensation for sex and pregnancy discrimination, intentional infliction of emotional distress, breach of oral contract and violation of the New York Civil Rights Act, Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Fair Labor Standards Act and New York State Labor Law.”

Tidal has not released a comment on this matter.
