Timothy Taylor, a Brooklyn man, recently made a shocking revelation in court after killing his wife in May 2023. Allegedly, he was overcome with regret—not for the life he’d taken, but because he believed his ex‑wife “deserved it” more. Timothy Taylor Murders Wife & Ex-Wife
In May 2023, Taylor traveled from North Carolina to Schenectady, checked into a hotel, and late that night broke into the home of his ex‑wife, Tishawn Folkes‑Taylor, 44. He allegedly stabbed her more than 22 times in front of her three children—two of whom were also his own—before fleeing through a bedroom window.
However, reports claim that days before, on May 13, he fatally stabbed his then-current wife, Theresa Gregg. Additionally, Gregg, a mother of two and special officer with NYC’s Department of Homeless Services, was killed inside her Brooklyn apartment.
More Details On The Tragic Case
At a July 1 hearing, Taylor pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Schenectady and made a shocking confession to detectives. After killing Gregg, he felt remorse, but harbored intense resentment toward Folkes‑Taylor, believing she “deserved it” more. This confession was deemed voluntary and has now been officially entered into evidence.
During the July hearing, the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office revealed:
“He told the detectives that after he had killed his then current wife, he felt bad, and he knew he had to come to Schenectady to kill his former wife because he harbored so much animosity toward her and, in his words, she, unlike his first victim, deserved it.”
District Attorney Robert Carney also honored Tishawn’s bravery, saying she protected her children. Carney even praised the “oldest” high‐school student, and extended family for playing key roles in bringing this case to justice.
“People should know that Tishawn Folkes-Taylor, while facing down her killer and knowing his intent, made sure to protect her children and after stabbing her more than 22 times, Mr. Taylor fled into the night without harming them,” District Attorney Robert M. Carney said in a statement.
Taylor’s Arrest & What Happens Next?
On June 2, 2023, with help from the U.S. Marshals Service, NYPD officers arrested Taylor at a bar in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was later extradited to New York to face multiple murder charges. Taylor, now 38, agreed to a plea deal of 22 years to life. He is scheduled for sentencing on September 16, 2025, in Schenectady County Court.
