Authorities are searching for five suspects after a robbery in Maryland left celebrity chef and Food Network star Tobias Dorzon with a gunshot wound.
On Tuesday, Nov. 5 an attempted robbery left a man and a woman wounded after gunfire broke out in Hyattsville, Maryland. In a statement subsequently shared on Facebook, Hyattsville authorities confirmed that they have descriptions of the four out of five suspects.
PEOPLE reports that both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment at the hospital. A local official confirmed that celebrity Chef Tobias Dorzon was one of the victims.
According to WBAL-TV, surveillance footage shows a person hiding behind a car as attackers approach another person on the ground. Shortly after, rapid gunfire rang out, followed by a woman screaming.
On Wednesday, Nov. 6, Prince George’s County Council member Wanika Fisher condemned the horrific act in a statement. She described Tobias Dorzon as a true friend and a respected member of the community.
Chef Dorzon owns two amazing restaurants in Hyattsville, is a valued member of the District 2 community, and my dear friend. Such a horrible act couldnt have happened to a better person,” Wanika Fisher explained.
After the incident, Tobias Dorzon thanked his supporters for their prayers and well wishes in an Instagram post. He also shared a screenshot of his own Threads post, “My God is the greatest & if you know me you know my favorite saying. I’m God’s favorite child 1 of 1.”
Tobias Dorzon has appeared on several popular ‘Food Network’ shows, including ‘Guy’s Grocery Games’ and ‘Tournament of Champions,’ per WBAL-TV.
