Tom Hanks’ Son Chet Hanks Explains Why He Used The N-Word Years Ago

Tom Hanks’ son Chet Hanks recently sat down with Van Lathan on his “Red Pill Podcast.” During the interview, he talked about what it’s like being the son of one of Hollywood’s biggest actors, his budding acting career and his music.

According to Page Six, back in 2015, Chet was highly criticized for repeatedly using the n-word in some of his music and on social media. Lathan asked the actor about his thoughts about the whole situation now.

Chet says his use of drugs and trolling was behind his decision to use the word back then. He said, “Number one, I was on a lot of drugs … I wanted to be, like, down, you know what I mean? I just felt like I wasn’t enough.”

“Low-key, like subconsciously, looking back on it now I realize I was trolling. I thought, like, crazy antics and just wilding the f*ck out and doing some crazy sh*t was going to like spark my career.”

Now he didn’t apologize for using the word back then but did acknowledge that it was lame of him and that he made a “cornball” move.

He now stars on Fox’s hit show “Empire,” where he plays Blake, a rapper on Empire’s roster of artists.

Check out the interview below…the discussion about using the n-word starts at the 59:43 mark.
