Top 5 Moments From The 2016 Soul Train Awards

Earlier this month the 2016 Soul Train Awards took place at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. We all finally got to see what went down as the show aired on BET and Centric on Sunday night.

There were tons of winners and honorees in the building, and there were also some memorable performances that took place as well.

Here are our top five moments from the 2016 Soul Train Awards.

1: Teddy Riley Receives The Legend Award

Teddy Riley took to the stage to remind the entire world exactly why he is deserving of the Legend Award. He brought out numerous amounts of acts as he ran through the number of hits he has been responsible for throughout the years. From Bobby Brown performing his classic hit “My Prerogative,” to Tito Jackson coming out to help perform “Remember The Time,” and Guy reuniting on stage for their classic hits like, “Let’s Chill,” and way more.

2: Brandy Awarded The Lady of Soul Award

Brandy was another honoree of the night, as she was rightfully recognized as a lady of soul. With more than 20 years in the game, Brandy hit the stage to perform a medley of her classic hits such as “Top of the World,” with a guest appearance from Mase, “I Wanna Be Down,” “Full Moon,” and more.

3: Soul Train Cypher

This year the Soul Train Soul Cypher returned to the show, and there were some amazing soul singers that sung some of their classic lyrics to the instrumental of Bryson Tiller’s “Don’t.” For this years cypher we had Ne-Yo, Angie Stone, Tyrese and the legendary Gladys Knight.

4: India Arie & Erykah Badu Duet

Both India Arie and Erykah Badu joined forces on stage for an empowering song. Starting off with the funny moment, the two eventually segued into India Arie’s song “Breathe.”

5: Dru Hill Open’s Up The Show

Things started off with a bang as 90’s group Dru Hill reunited to open up the show. They performed their classic hits, “Tell Me,” “In My Bed” and “Beauty.” Of course Sisqo had to have his solo moment as he performed his hit “Thong Song.”
