Tory Lanez has pleaded not guilty in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting this morning.
Though Tory was not present in court this morning, The Shade Room was there when Tory Lanez entered his plea via his attorney.
His arraignment was initially slated for last month, but the judge allowed Tory and his attorney to push it back to today–coincidentally the same day Megan drops her Fashion Nova line–under the condition that he stay away from Megan.
After Tory’s attorney Shawn Holley entered his plea, things got a lil’ spicy in court between the Holley and the district attorney’s office over the standing order of protection against Tory.
Holley inquired about the order of protection placed against her client, noting that Tory and Megan are both public figures and that it’s difficult to understand the parameters surrounding the order when the alleged victim is able to speak about Tory and the shooting publicly.
Of course, Holley was referring to a recent interview Megan did with GQ after being awarded the magazine’s “Rapper of the Year.” In the interview, Megan claimed Tory tried to pay her and her best friend Kelsey Nicole off in exchange for their silence after he allegedly shot Megan in both feet on July 12th as the trio left a pool party in the Hollywood Hills.
Holley said Tory Lanez denies those claims, adding that the protective order prevents Tory from responding.
“It’s extremely hard for him to read these things in which he strongly objects and denies,” Holley said of her client in court. “Articles are coming out in which the witness is speaking about it specifically.”
But the district attorney’s office fired back, mentioning how Tory infamously went on IG Live and discussed the incident in detail and straight up called Megan a liar.
As as a result, the DA argued that Megan has been subjected to bullying and harassment online and that Tory Lanez should consider consulting with his attorney before speaking publicly on the case again.
Tory is facing three felony charges in connection to Megan’s shooting including assault with a handgun. If convicted, Tory is looking at a maximum sentence of 22 years.
Both sides head back to court on January 20th, 2021. We’ll keep you posted.
