Traci Braxton’s Husband & Son Speak Out At Her Celebration Of Life Ceremony

As the world continues to mourn the passing of Traci Braxton-Surratt, who gained her wings after a year-long battle with esophageal cancer, some of her loved ones gathered to celebrate her life on Thursday. In a live-streamed service, fans worldwide remembered the light that Traci brought to the world. During the celebration, viewers and attendees could hear beautiful remarks, see performances, and witness the impact her death had on the men closest to Traci—her husband, Kevin Surratt Sr., and their son Kevin Surratt Jr.

Kevin Sr. took to the stage and explained how much he loved his wife, to whom he was married for 25 years. “She was a free spirit. She was my hummingbird. I don’t know if ya’ll ever saw Traci’s back. She had five hummingbirds on her back, tattooed. And they all represented her sisters. That was just her heart.” Kevin explained that she had a giving soul, how much he missed her, and that he was lonely.

Their son Kevin Jr. also made remarks about Traci’s battle with cancer, and referred to her as his best friend. “I’m going to beat this,” he recalled Traci telling him she was ill. Kevin shared a conversation with his mother, saying, “Mom, you already won. You don’t need to fight anymore. It’s okay.” Kevin Jr. also detailed how he felt like Traci was trying to hold on for him, his father, and her grandson Kevin III, but he made it clear that it was hard to see her in that condition.

Toward the end of the celebration, Traci received a proclamation declaring March 31st, Traci Renee Braxton-Surratt Day in Prince George’s County, Maryland! While the celebration was beautiful, it was noticeable that the Braxton family wasn’t in attendance. According to Page Six, a source close to the Braxton sisters wanted their late sister to rest in peace but alleges her husband and manager are exploiting their sister’s death.

The source claims, “Traci did not want a funeral or wake. She did not want people looking all over her body. She specifically requested to be immediately cremated.” They continued, “There was a Zoom meeting that made it clear about what she wanted, and now her husband is trying to cash in on her name.”

Our thoughts continue to go out to the entire Braxton and Surratt family.
