Tristan Thompson Is Officially A U.S. Citizen

Tristan Thompson’s 2020 just keeps getting better! After the 29-year-old just signed a 2-year, $19 million contract with the Boston Celtics, he got the word that he is now officially a U.S. citizen.

Tristan came to the United States from his native country of Canada back in 2009 on a student visa. He played for the University of Texas for about a year before he declared for the NBA draft, foregoing his three years of college eligibility.

It wasn’t immediately clear how long Tristan had been in the process of applying for U.S. citizenship, but the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Western Region’s Twitter account announced Tristan became an official U.S. citizen earlier this week.

“I came to the US on a student visa and have always had big dreams. I’m not truly living the American dream,” Tristan said in a statement provided by the USCIS.

The USCIS wished him the best of luck while giving a shout out to the Celtics.

People might be surprised to know that Tristan wasn’t from the U.S. but like his fellow Toronto native Drake, Tristan has blended in quite well here in the U.S.

Tristan has laid some roots down here. He has one son with his ex Jordan Craig and shares True Thompson with Khloe Kardashian. He spends quite a lot of time with the Kardashian clan as he and Khloe continue to rebuild their relationship following repeated infidelities on his end.

While things have certainly been tumultuous in the past, these days, he and Khloe are able to laugh about his past cheating.

Eyes will likely be on Khloe to see if she may relocate to Boston now that Tristan is headed there. We’ll keep you posted.
