We are always here for a new sound so when we heard #TankAndTheBangs on NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest — which they won in 2017 by the way; we couldn’t keep them from y’all.
The group comes out of New Orleans, Louisiana, so y’all know they bring the heat! Lead by Tarriona “Tank” Ball, the bodacious Bangas have taken spoken word, funk, hip-hop, a little R&B, a lot of soul, a dab of zydeco, and almost everything in between and created or a perfect pot of musical gumbo.
We recently got the chance to check TATB out live and they took us on a roller coaster ride for sure; from riding the waves to the sounds of the drums, keyboard, saxophone, and bass, to the way Tank took command of the crowd.
