#TSRPositiveImages: Cleveland Hip-Hop Artist Ripp Flamez Hosts A Community Give-Back To Help Over 30 Families Who Lost Their Homes Due To Fire

More than 30 families lives changed after losing almost everything in a fire that defeated parts of Rainbow Terrace Apartments in Cleveland, Ohio. Firefighters responded to the grease fire around 3 a.m. on March 26th when they successfully put the flames to rest; only to be called back one hour later after they reignited.

“It affected 30 families in total,” Ward Five Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland told WKYC. “Their apartments are totally unlivable right now and so we’re in a situation of having to find a place; a clean, safe, and dry place for 30 families in our community.”

Ripp Flamez is amongst the many who stepped up to the plate to help the community. He and his music label, Day One Music put together a give-back event which would supply the residents with household items they need to re-start their lives in a new home.

“This is where I’m from. I always told myself if I was able to come back and do anything, I would. And this fire was kind of like the perfect opportunity to just do what I always said I would — or stand on what I always said I would.”

Not only did they accept donations to help these families, the event included music, food, and good fellowship.

Donations for the families impacted by the fire are still being collected at the Rainbow Terrace Learning Center located at 7310 Carson Avenue, Cleveland, OH.

For specific items to donate, or to schedule a donation pick-up, you can contact their offices at 216-271-2323.

A GoFundMe account has also been created to help the families rebuild. The account was started by Lifelong Learning, a non-profit organization that facilitates programs at Rainbow Terrace Learning Center.

The money will go towards furniture, as well as other necessary items like food, clothing, diapers, toiletries and school supplies. As of Monday morning, $13,300 had been raised.
