As healthcare workers around the world continue to help battle COVID-19 while on the frontline, Nike is doing their part when it comes to showing their appreciation for these healthcare workers.
The company recently announced that they will be donating 30,000 pairs of Nike Air Zoom Pulse shoes to hospitals and health care systems in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Memphis. An additional 2,500 pairs of shoes will also be donated to hospitals in London, Milan, Paris, Berlin, Belgium, and Barcelona.
The Nike Air Zoom Pulse was released last November and became the first shoe that was designed by the company for healthcare workers. Nike partnered with the nonprofit organization Good360 to make the donations in the U.S. and also local organizations within Europe to follow through with the donation.
“The effort is led by messages of gratitude to healthcare professionals. From one athlete to another, Nike athletes recognize the physical and mental resilience of healthcare athletes,” says Nike.
Nike continued, “This partnership ensures delivery of the footwear to health systems and hospitals when they are ready to receive and deliver them to their staff.”
Aside from the donation of the shoes, approximately 95,000 pairs of soccer socks, which offer mild compression will be delivered to healthcare workers in Los Angeles and New York City through Good360.
Aside from their recent donation, Nike has donated 1,100 Nike Sportswear kits, nearly 4,000 pairs of shoes, and more than 3,500 pieces of Dri-FIT apparel to more than a dozen hospitals and shelters.
Back in March Nike announced that they would be closing all of their U.S. stores in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
