We, at The Shade Room, love LOVE! It’s amazing when you make the decision to extend your love story with that special someone by getting married! One of our Roommates, in particular, recently proposed to his girlfriend at the White House and his reason why was so sweet!
Last night, President Obama gave his final State of the Union address which pretty much served as a huge reminder that our days with the G.O.A.T. are almost up! However, that is exactly why Jerome Brooks took it upon himself to plan a 1900-miles trip to D.C. to propose. Brooks and his wifey-to-be, Ny’Keshia, have been together for 7 years and throughout their ups and downs, he says that he’s been in love with Ny’Keshia and wanted to marry her from the first moment he laid eyes on her!
It wasn’t exactly easy to get Ny’Keshia to comply with his secret plans, though. Brooks told us, “I planted the idea of me wanting to see the White House to her as something I always wanted to accomplish. I even started unnecessary fights to get her emotionally uncomfortable with me!” Once they finally got to the point of no return, Brooks got down on one knee and then cracked open the box of the ring that he’s been saving 3 years for! This was such a sweet proposal! Jerome says that his boo has helped him grow into a better man over the past 7 years and is definitely looking forward to a lifetime with Ny’Keshia! The couple share a son, and are expecting another baby this year. Congratulations!
