#TSRUpdatez: Billy Dee Williams Clarifies Gender Fluid Comments—Says He Doesn’t Know What The Term Means & He’s “Not Gay”

#Roommates, you may remember earlier this month when legendary actor Billy Dee Williams sent social media into a frenzy when he reportedly revealed that he was gender fluid. Well, now he wants ya’ll to pump your brakes because he’s just clarified his previous comments—and they are very different from what many initially thought.

As many were applauding actor Billy Dee Williams for publicly admitting that he is gender fluid and uses both masculine and feminine pronouns, he has now set the record straight on what he actually meant. @VibeMagazine reports, during a recent interview following his comments about pronoun usage, Billy Dee addressed the widespread assumption about him being gender fluid, saying “What the hell is gender fluid? That’s a whole new term.”

He went on to clearly explain what he meant—and that it had nothing to do with sexuality or sexual orientation, but instead about being in touch with the “softer side” of yourself:

“Well, first of all, I asked last night. I said, ‘What the hell is gender-fluid?’ That’s a whole new term. But what I was talking about was about men getting in touch with their softer side of themselves. There’s a phrase that was coined by Carl G. Jung, who was a psychiatrist…But he coined a phrase that’s, ‘Anima animus.’ And anima means that is the female counterpart of the male self, and the animus is the male counterpart of the female.”

Billy Dee further clarified his remarks, adding:

“I wasn’t talking about sex, I wasn’t talking about being gay or straight. People should read [Jung]. I mean, it would be an interesting education for a lot of people. No, no, no, I’m not gay — by any stretch of the imagination. Not that I have anything against gay people. But personally? Not gay.”

As for what’s up next Billy Dee? Well, he’s reprising his popular role as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming next installment of the “Star Wars” franchise, “Rise of the Skywalker.”
