TSR Updatez: Minneapolis Police Officers Involved In Fatal Arrest Of George Floyd Have Been Fired

On Monday, a Black man, George Floyd, died while being arrested by the Minneapolis Police Department, as we previously reported. At the time of the arrest, an officer can be seen kneeling on the man. After  George Floyd stated that he couldn’t breathe, he later became unresponsive and passed away. The Minneapolis police officers involved have now been released.

Mayor Jacob Frey tweeted,

“Four responding MPD officers involved in the death of George Floyd have been terminated,” he shared.  “This is the right call,” Frey added. He also held a press conference to speak about the incident involving George Floyd.

“When you hear someone calling for help, you are supposed to help.,” the mayor stated.  He continued, “This officer failed in the most basic human sense. What happened on Chicago  and 38th this, last night, is simply awful.,” he added,. “It was traumatic, and it serves as a clear reminder just how far we have to go. To the Black community, to the family, I’m so sorry.”

In a press release, the MPD stated”

“Officers were advised that the suspect was sitting on top of a blue car and appeared to be under the influence. Two officers arrived and located the suspect, a male believed to be in his 40s, in his car. He was ordered to step from his car. After he got out, he physically resisted officers. Officers were able to get the suspect into handcuffs and noted he appeared to be suffering medical distress. Officers called for an ambulance.”

At this time, no charges have been filed against the officers. The FBI is currently investigating this tragic incident..
