Two Buffalo Police Officers Suspended Without Pay Pending Investigation For Pushing An Elderly Man During A Protest

Two Buffalo police officers have been suspended without pay after being seen on video pushing an elderly man to the ground during a protest.

Footage of the protest surfaced online, and while it is unclear how the interaction between the 75-year-old man and the officers began, the man can be seen approaching the officers.

As he begins to walk toward them, many officers start to scream “move back”, and the man stops walking, and stands still for a few seconds before two officers push him to the ground. Shortly after, the man begins to bleed from his ears and officers call for medical attention.

The man reportedly sustained a head injury, and is in serious condition at a local hospital. Mayor Byron Brown released a statement in regards to the incident, revealing that the officers involved have been suspended without pay while an investigation takes place.

“I was deeply disturbed by the video, as was the Buffalo Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood,” he said. “He directed an immediate investigation into the matter, and the two officers have been suspended without pay.”
