Regardless of your opinions about the films themselves, #Madea has been a staple in many homes. Long before Madea hit the big screen, she held it down during live plays!
Well, it looks like come next year, #Roomies, Madea will be no more. #TylerPerry recently said it’s time to say goodbye to the character and he plans to do so in his next Madea film that is expected to be released in 2019.
“This is it,” he told #SiriusXM radio host #BevySmith on her show #Bevelations “It’s time for me to kill that old b***h. I’m tired!…We’re gonna say goodbye in ‘19. I just don’t want to be her age playing her.”
Perry says Madea will take her final bow in his upcoming film, “Tyler Perry’s a Madea Family Funeral,” expected to come to theaters in March. The film will be the eighth Madea film in the popular franchise and the 11th film in which Tyler will play her.
And if you loved the plays, Tyler is also planning a farewell stage play tour but details are slim as of now.
Now off the screen, Tyler has really been on his philanthropy tip in recent months. As we previously reported, Tyler purchased a $350,000 home in Georgia and gave it to the mother of one of the actors he worked with back in 1999.
LaShun Pace and Tyler worked together years ago and have stayed in touch. Once he learned that Pace’s mother, Bettie, was ill and that one of her wishes was to have a home big enough for her family, he stepped up and purchased a home for the family close to where they were raised in Atlanta.
He also recently offered an acting role to former “Cosby Show” actor Geoffrey Owens after a photo of him bagging groceries at a Trader Joe’s went viral. Prior to that, Tyler also purchased a new car for Tiffany Haddish.
