Tyra Banks delivered some “Tyra Mail” yesterday informing her fans that Americas Next Top Model Cycle 22 would be the last cycle. I’m sure many of you, like myself, were upset to hear this news because who didn’t grow up wanting Tyra Banks to tell them “You Are Americas Next Top Model!!”
In the heart felt message to her fans Tyra expressed how proud she was about what Top Model has done.
“We were the first reality show based in the fashion world,” Banks said. “I never thought my little idea would have people everywhere thinking differently about what and how they take photos. And I never thought we’d do 22 cycles. Whoa! So many!!! And what rhymes with 22? You. And you and you and you! YOU made Top model what it is.”
In those 22 cycles we’ve seen Tyra change the definition of a model. We’ve seen her step out of the norm and embrace plus size models, petite women, and even individuals who happened to fall beneath the standard height requirement to even be considered a model!! Tyra has done it all and nonetheless encouraged millions to believe in themselves and to follow their dreams, regardless of what society thinks.
“I hope you’ve learned a heck of a lot from watching,” Banks said. “I have an inkling you have. May your photos (and selfies) be forever fierce. May you always find your light. And may you werk hallways like runways. Always remember, you are beautiful & BOOTYful. And please, keep on Smizing each and every day for TyTy.”
It’s been a great run for Tyra Banks and I’m sure her new Talk Show, FABLife, will go on to do great things.
