Roommates, there have been many drastic calls being made in order to take precautions against the spread of the coronavirus. One of them has been colleges and universities moving from in class instruction to online learning, and shutting down their on-campus dorms, and U-Haul is stepping in to help.
The moving company is offering students impacted by the coronavirus 30 days of free-self storage at U-haul owned and operated facilities. So long as students can provide proof of their enrollment with a college ID, they will be able to store their items free of charge.
“We don’t know how every student is affected. But we know they are affected,” said U-Haul President John Taylor. “More and more universities are giving instructions to leave campus and go home. Students and their parents are in need of moving and storage solutions. We have the expertise and network to help, and thats exactly what we’re going to do.”

As we previously reported, dorm rooms have been shut down, leaving college students to return to wherever home may be. But what about those who are unable to do so? Students impacted the most by this precaution are those who live in different states, and even different countries.
Harvard University was one of the first schools to make the switch, which greatly impacted its population of International students. Since the virus outbreak, international travel has been severely restricted, and ticket prices are through the roof.
