University Of Kentucky Student Found Deceased After Being Swept Out To Sea While Studying Abroad In Israel

#TSRTakeAMoment: #Israel authorities are reporting the body of 19-year-old #UniversityofKentucky student #TeNiyaJones, who was spending the summer in #Jordan for a study abroad program, has been found after she was swept out to sea while swimming at a beach.

The tragedy happened just days before she was scheduled to return home, according to ABC News. TeNiya was swimming with two other students in #TelAviv shortly after midnight on Sunday when they reportedly were pulled out to sea by a strong current. The other two students made it back to shore but TeNiya was not immediately found.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with TeNiya, her family and the students and others impacted,” University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto said in a statement. School officials say they have also been in contact with TeNiya’s family, who live in her hometown of Fort Myers, Florida. Officials say they are working to provide support for her family and students while her mother and grandmother travel to Tel Aviv.

Let’s keep her family and the communities TeNiya was a part of in our prayers, #Roommates.
