As the one year death anniversary of Kobe and Gigi Bryant approaches, Vanessa Bryant took to Instagram to share a message about grief.
“Let me be real—Grief is a messed up cluster of emotions. One day you’re in the moment laughing and the next day you don’t feel like being alive,” she expressed in her IG story.
Vanessa continued her message by saying, “I want to say this for people struggling with grief and heartbreaking loss. Find your reason to live.”
She continued to say that her daughters keep her encouraged, “I know it’s hard. I look at my daughters and I try to push through that feeling for them. Death is guaranteed but living the rest of the day isn’t. Find your reason.”
As previously reported, Vanessa Bryant and her mother Sofia Laine have an ongoing legal dispute.
Her mother filed a lawsuit alleging that her daughter not only kicked her out of her home, but took her car and stopped paying her rent at the gated-apartment she moved into.
She also alleges that Kobe promised to take care of her for the rest of her life, and Vanessa says all of these allegations are false.
In a statement posted on her Instagram story, Vanessa details the role her mother has played in her and her daughters’ lives over the years, and says that the lawsuit is just an attempt to extort her family during a very painful time.
“My mother is continuing to try and find ways to extort a financial windfall from our family,” Vanessa said. “For nearly two decades, we arranged for my mother to live in our nearby properties, at no cost to her because she had claimed that she didn’t have any money to buy her own home after her divorce.”
Vanessa says her mother’s decision to go on television to make these allegations was hurtful, but she still agreed to provide her monthly support for the rest of her life, which her mother declined. Now, Sofia is demanding $5 million, a house of her own, and a Mercedes SUV from Vanessa.
