Diddy received his Honorary Doctorate Degree earlier today at his former college, Howard University. There was a little bit of a protest by the elder faculty and some of the students because he was receiving a Doctorate Degree.
Many of the students felt that Diddy didn’t deserve the same accolades that they worked so hard to earn. Some felt that he didn’t put in the same amount of time that they did to get a degree (dropped out after two years), and that he never gave back to the school. Well, we say he put in more than enough time as an Entrepreneur throughout his career and he helps Howard University from his name alone.
I mean really, the amount of work that Diddy has put into his successful career far surpasses anything those college students did to get their degree. He’s been grinding and enduring sleepless nights since back in the 1990’s. Of course he deserves a Doctorate Degree, from the school of life experience and education.
We were anxious to watch Diddy’s speech, it wasn’t what we expected though. He quotes Biggie Smalls lyrics, speaks on his journey to success, shouts out his ex-girlfriend, brought awareness to the #BringOurGirlsBack movement and spoke about the marathon he only had 8 weeks to train for! It was very lively, not the typical commencement speech at all!
