The rapper was hit with gun possession charges while en route to a music video shoot for Ice Spice‘s track “Gangsta Boo.”

The 21-year-old was still in police custody as of Tuesday morning.

News of his arrest comes on the heels of Lil Tjay’s full recovery after he was shot multiple times last summer, the outlet reports.

Tjay was arrested along with four friends after officers locked loaded guns inside a Cadillac Escalade he had been riding in, according to TMZ.

Their vehicle had been initially pulled over due to a missing front license plate and tinted windows violations.

This is hardly Lil Tjay’s first brush with the law.

In 2020, we reported rapper Lil TJay going live on Instagram during an incident with him and the NYPD, resulting in him being detained.

During the time of the incident, Tjay was filming a music video alongside rapper Fivio Foreign. According to claims, police responded to a call that suggested people were waving guns outside of a Queens housing project.

The Shade Room reported that TJay was in a vehicle with four other individuals when cops pulled them over for switching lanes without signaling.

Their sources confirmed that officers smelled marijuana in the car, which resulted in a search and the discovery of four loaded handguns and a large amount of marijuana.

Back in June, New York musician, Lil Tjay was unfortunately shot several times, causing him to have emergency surgery, The Shade Room reported at the time.

Tjay posted to social media shortly after the shooting, thanking those who have been showing love and support to him throughout the whole process.

In a video posted to his Instagram account, Tjay could be seen wearing a neck brace and hoodie, as he says,

“I just want to say, thanks for the love, thanks for the support. I’ve been looking at the DMs, the comments, and everything else, and I feel loved. Seven shots, it was tough you know, most people don’t survive it, but I’m here. I’m here for a reason. New music coming soon, we gon come back stronger than ever man.”

As previously reported, it was reported in June that Tjay was taken into emergency surgery after he was shot in New Jersey. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office later released details about the shooting, and it was revealed that Tjay was a victim of an armed robbery.

It was reported that Mohamed Konate of New York tried to rob Tjay and two other people a part of his team.

The other members of his team were later identified as Jeffrey Valdez and Antoine Boyd. When authorities arrived at the scene, Tjay was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and Boyd suffered from a single gunshot wound.
