“The View” co-host, Whoopi Goldberg, is no stranger to sharing her opinion on pressing issues.
During a segment of the show Whoopi made it clear that she was not in support of the boycott. To her “boycotting doesn’t work, and it’s a slap in the face to Chris Rock.” Her reasoning? Well, she thinks this is an issue every year and we should be trying to make changes all year, not just when it’s award season!
She says “There’s not a lot of support for little companies that make movies more diverse than anything else, but you can’t bitch about it just on Oscar time.”
Goldberg claims the problem really is with the people of power who can make a film happen. She thinks the money doesn’t come to diverse films because they don’t think there’s a place for “black movies.”
If actors got together and really committed to making sure their voice was heard all year long, that might make more noise.
