Eve Opens Therapy & How It Helped Shape Her Relationship With Nicki Minaj
About twenty-one minutes into the interview, Eve spoke about attending therapy ahead of beginning a working relationship with Nicki Minaj. The pair reportedly worked alongside one another during the filming of ‘Barbershop: The Next Cut,’ released in 2016. In the years that followed, Eve explained that she acknowledged feeling like Minaj had replaced her as the music industry’s “it-girl.”
“Everyone has been in that position, no matter what industry you’re in,” Eve explained to Thembi. “You could be at the top of your game… and there might a situation or a person that makes you feel insecure. And I think the therapy was for me to be the best me on set, and also not to bring my — whatever was going on in my head and bring it on to set.”

Furthermore, Eve explained that she received solace when Minaj later wrote her a letter. In it, the rapper acknowledged the nervousness she felt about arriving on set and feeling like she had to measure up to Eve.
“And sometimes you just need a conversation with people, and sometimes it is your own stuff – you’re just in your own head,” Eve said.
