That awkward moment when you mistaken somebody who is dying for an art performance! Well thats exactly what happened with patrons at an Art Basel Miami Art show! Somehow a fight broke out between two women and onlooking guests received more of a show than they were probably expecting….something a little more “hands on!”
After hearing a scuffle outside of her exhibit, Naomi Fisher told the Miami Herald, “A guy walked up to me and said, ‘I thought I saw a performance, and I thought it was fake blood, but it was real blood.’” Yikes!
The victim, who is remaining anonymous, claims that the attacker followed her throughout the exhibits and when she confronted her, she was stabbed in the neck and arms with an X-Acto knife! Since they were at an art gallery, guests thought that this was for their entertainment, so no one thought to actually call for help. Even after police arrived and began to tape off the scene, they thought it was all apart of the show. How horrific!
Sculptor Greg Hill gave his account of the incident:
“I thought a piece of art fell on her,” he said. “I never would have thought there would be a stabbing at Art Basel.. People didn’t really know what had happened. It was calm and everyone was milling around and talking.” Miami Herald staff writers Jane Wooldridge, Andres Viglucci and Ricardo Mor contributed to this report.”
According to The Herald, “Police and Art Basel officials announced this week that, after the terrorist attacks in Paris, they had beefed up security in and around the convention center, and at other events.” Purses were also reportedly checked but despite their efforts, a woman was still stabbed. Thankfully, the victim is expected to be okay! Lets chat below!
