HAVE Y’ALL SEEN “METH CURRY”?

I know that some of you guys may have seen the meme of this young man floating around. He’s been dubbed “Meth Curry” because he resembles NBA baller Stephen Curry, except he’s got a noticeably smaller frame. Well, I’m here to tell you that first of all, his name is Leon Mitchell II and second of all, he’s not a meth addict– he’s a cancer survivor! What’s more, he is not impressed with the personal attacks on his physical appearance. “The fact that the meme was posted was a reminder of how distasteful and cruel people can be without background knowledge of the person in the bullseye of the target,” he wrote. “I’ve struggled deeply for years with the devastating effects cancer treatment plagued my body with.”

Just so you know, Leon is a motivational speaker and mentor now and is using his platform to be a positive force in his community. Unfortunately, social media allows the ill-informed to share info fairly quickly without them realizing how the comments and memes can negatively affect someone and Leon’s wife, Jennita is a witness to this. She noticed that the ‘Gram was acting out and spreading false information about her man, so she set the record straight! Check out what she had to say:

“People say anything about anyone without knowing the individual or their story. Their looking for their 100+ likes, their 100+ comments the ???????????? faces. They don’t stop and think that the butt of their jokes are real people. Well here is something real. The man in this picture happens to be the LOVE of my life, my best friend, the father of our beautiful children, MY HUSBAND! 6 months after Leon and I started dating at just 20 years old he was diagnosed with a rare head and neck cancer.I watched a healthy, vibrant, social, independent young man hit the lowest point in his life. He struggled, his appearance changed, when he was able to speak again his voice was different. But through all the pain, all the doubt he was given at living a normal life again Leon kicked cancers ass! Winning his battle changed everything about him on the outside but it never changed the man he is in his heart. Leon uses his experience to be a positive figure in our community, to help others to see in their darkest times there is a light at the end. I’m so proud of the man he has become. I want to say a big Thank You to everyone who has spoke up for him, reposted, retweeted, and shared. I do not look at this as a loss, but a win to not only bring awareness to this distasteful display but many others like this out there. We live our lives as an individual but we leave our legacy within our community!
#TeamKNOE#positvityovereverything#Itoldhimtheyf’edup#myhusbandssexyashell #methcurry#hisactionsspeakvolume #kNOEClothing @mr_knoe you are my heart forever!”

This is one of the many instances that show you how your life can change at any moment! Take the time to cherish and live your life, because not everyone gets to have a story like The Mitchells. Also, quit being mean on the ‘Gram! It’s 2016 and there are too many people spreading negativity despite the fact that some claim to be “woke”. That means you should know better! *side-eye*
