The Nigerian superstar found himself at the center of a viral moment after calling out a concertgoer for falling asleep during one of his shows. Burna Boy Responds To Backlash Over Sleeping Fan
During a recent concert, Burna Boy paused mid-performance to call out a sleeping fan in the audience. “When I stand up here and I see you here with your girl sleeping in front of me, it pisses me the f*** off, man. So please take her the f*** home,” he’s heard saying in videos that quickly went viral. Furthermore, the fan left after Burna refused to continue his performance until she was gone.
In response to the criticism, the ‘Last Last’ singer addressed the backlash in a series of Instagram story posts. “I wasn’t gonna address this but… if you make the pilot uncomfortable in a plane you bought a ticket for, you will be deboarded or arrested as soon as you land. You pay school fees, but you will be kicked out of class if you make it uncomfortable for the teacher to do his job,” he wrote. Burna Boy also emphasized that he pours his soul into every performance, even if only ten people are in attendance. And, he’s unbothered by being “cancelled” for defending the energy of his shows.
Fan Shares Side, Burna Boy Defends His Actions
The woman at the center of the drama finally spoke out on X, explaining her side: she’d been exhausted due to personal struggles, including the recent loss of her daughter’s father. “We paid to be there, and if I wanted to close my eyes and sleep, I can do that. It is my money that I wasted not his,” she wrote, asking for empathy from internet critics.

Additionally, in a livestream recorded sometime after the incident, Burna Boy can be seen on a tour bus laughing with members of his band. The clip circulated widely, with some fans claiming that he is allegedly laughing at the situation. However, in a series of Instagram Story posts, he later clarified that the laughter was actually him joking with his bandmates. Burna also mentioned how he is “not always right,” but is “human.”
Fans Split Over Burna Boy Concert Drama
