The family of Young Scooter, a.k.a Kenneth Bailey, has reportedly spoken out amid Atlanta Police sharing a major update on Demetria Spence, a.k.a. Demi Blanco,the woman who made the unsubstantiated 911 call before his passing.
On the evening of Tuesday, April 1, the Atlanta Police Department issued an update informing the public that a woman named Demetria Spence had been taken into custody. Additionally, the department shared that she’s been charged with “Transmitting a False Public Alarm.” To note, the charge includes the penal description:
“If serious bodily harm or death results from the response of a public safety agency.”
Furthermore, APD noted that Spence “was wanted for her involvement in making a false 911 call regarding a person injured/deceased incident… on March 28th, 2025.”
“Ms. Spence was transported to the Fulton County Jail for processing,” the update asserted.
Per Fulton County Jail records, it appears that Spence has remained in custody as of the morning of Wednesday, April 2. At this time, it appears she has not been given a bond amount.
Per Fox 35 Orlando, the outlet obtained Spence’s mugshot from the Atlanta Police Department.
Additionally, the outlet reportedly obtained a statement released by Young Scooter’s family via a publicist:
“We are completely devastated by the loss of Kenneth ‘Young Scooter’ Bailey and are currently still waiting for more information to understand the circumstance. Young Scooter was more than just a hip hop artist he was a phenomenal father and mentor to a lot of Atlanta youth pursuing both sports and music. Scooter was their advocate and support system. He always encouraged his children and the youth to pursue their dreams no matter what. The family is grateful for the outpouring of support and love from the city and all over the country. At this time, they are requesting privacy and prayers as they grieve and wait for answers.”
As The Shade Room previously reported, it was revealed that Young Scooter passed away on his 39th birthday on March 28. Initially, it was reported that police were called to a residence over a woman allegedly being drug into a house. When they arrived, two men allegedly fled the scene. One reportedly returned to the location while Scooter was found injured after allegedly jumping multiple fences.
Earlier this week, APD released audio from the 911 call the department received. In the call, a woman told authorities she witnessed a “girl” getting beaten outside of a residence. Additionally, she alleged gunfire had went off, and the “girl” was “bleeding profusely” from the beating.
On Saturday, March 29, APD held a press conference, noting that they were unable to substantiate the caller’s claim. Earlier this week, the department released audio of the call and then requested that the caller come forward, per The Shade Room.
On Tuesday, April 1, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office released the official autopsy report for Young Scooter. The office noted in part that the manner of his death was an “accident.”
