Yung Bleu Expresses His Frustrations After Getting Snubbed By The BET Awards For A Best New Artist Nomination

It’s that time of year again when the countdown until the BET Awards has officially begun, and on Thursday, the network announced the nominations for this year’s award show. Yung Bleu was one of the artists to notice he was not nominated in the Best New Artist category, and he decided to express his frustration on social media.

This year’s nominees for Best New Artist for the 2021 BET Awards include Coi Leray, Flo Milli, Giveon, Jack Harlow, Latto, and Pooh Shiesty.

After noticing his name was not included in the list, he shared a screenshot of the gold and platinum plaques he’s earned, as well as the plaques that were earned by some of the artists who were nominated.

Yung Bleu then said, “Tired of being quiet sometimes. I be wondering who a** I gotta kiss to stop being sh*tted on. BET ya’ll know that’s some bullsh*t. Don’t say ya’ll don’t consider me a new artist either cause ya’ll think I just popped up after ‘You’re Mine Still.'”

He continued to say that he applauds all of the other artists that were nominated in the category, and said, “Not one single artist on this list got more plaques than me.”

Coi Leray then made a tweet and said, “I’m one of the 6 songs that went platinum this year. Don’t tell me I shouldn’t make sh*t.”

Assuming the tweet was directed towards him, Yung Bleu then said, “U deserve it…fasho…I do too tho! I honestly just used you as an example that I meet the qualifications as well. I was 1 of those 6 songs that went platinum and I actually went platinum twice this year also. Let’s not give them a show, I got love for ya kid, keep going.”

Coi later clarified that her tweet was not directed towards Yung Bleu, but at other people who have been trolling her. He shared her tweet and also issued an apology for assuming that her message was about him.

As we previously reported, it was announced that the BET Awards would be live this year with a fully vaccinated audience. Last year’s show was virtual due to the pandemic, however, as the vaccination numbers increase, the show will return to a live event.
