Earlier this evening we received word that there was a shooting that interrupted TI’s scheduled performance in NYC. Sources told us that at least three people were shot and that there may have been a fatality well now it has been confirmed that one man is dead. Not only was one man confirmed dead but the rapper Troy Ave was one of the victims to be hit with a bullet.
Sources tell us that a fight began backstage possibly between Troy Ave’s crew and another. The fight then apparently spilled out on the stage while TI’s DJ was warming up the crowd for the ATL rapper’s performance. Witnesses then say that another fight broke out in the crowd and thats when all hell really broke loose.
It was confirmed that Troy Ave’s leg was grazed by a bullet and a female near him was also shot in the leg. According to the NY Times, a 34-year-old man was shot in the chest and a 33-year-old man did not survive his bullet to the stomach.
“Right when he was about to go on I heard two gunshots, and right after, there was a stampede,” Ayo Fagbemi, 21, said to the NY Times. “There were at least three rounds, but after the second one was when people started running.”
Rappers Maino and Uncle Murda were also reportedly at the show but were unharmed. There has been no word from TI’s camp either.
As of right now police have little to go on as the motive and the shooter remain a mystery. One thing’s for sure, Troy Ave has been racking up major beef in the last few months with fellow Brooklyn rapper, Joey BadA$$ and his Pro Era Crew after Troy Ave mocked the suicide of Joey’s close friend Steez.
