Ex-NBA star Matt Barnes was slapped with a restraining order by the co-parents of his girlfriend’s three oldest children. Anansa Sims’ ex-husband David Patterson and his new fiancee, Melisa Andino, accused the athlete of harassment and also mistreatment of Patterson’s three children with the model in the filing according to The Blast.
Matt Barnes Neglects Sims’ Older Kids?
Andino filed the restraining order according to the report, explaining that the two families who co-parent the children are not in a good place while the kids stay with Barnes. Andino said the children “live at Matt’s home 50% of the time (every other week when they are with their mother.)”

She shared more of her concerns in her statement.
“They said that Matt only speaks to them at family dinners. They said the rest of the time, he goes into a room and smokes. They said that they feel like their mother loves Matt more than she loves them.”
Andino, a school principal, is also accusing him of harassing them in group text messages.
“This is very concerning to me since I have also been threatened by Matt Barnes.”
Anansa Sims’ Ex-Husband Speaks Out On Social Media
It’s unclear why David Patterson, an ex Atlanta Falcons player once married to Anansa Sims, didn’t file the restraining order himself. His current fiancee took on the task, claiming that the four co-parents are all in a group text where Matt allegedly threatened and harassed them over their concerns about the kids’ happiness.
Patterson shared a post on social media days before his fiancee filed the restraining order hinting that he was ready to tell his story.

In the filing, Patterson’s fiancee also outlines incidents where she felt Barnes’ behavior made the children feel threatened, saying,
“There are times that one of the children has started to tell me or my fiance something that happened at Matt’s house. and another child will say “Shh…don’t talk about that.” This makes me fear that they are being threatened not to tell us what goes on at Matt’s home. Given the public life Matt and Anansa lead. there are videos on social media of him cursing at the kids and pushing them.”
She continued,
“If Matt Barnes will threaten me, a principal who has never said anything to him. would threaten a police officer. would choke and assault a woman…l understand why the children finally told their father and l that they were scared of him. l don’t believe children should be forced to live with a person who mistreats them because that is who their mother chooses to be with.”
Judge Presses Pause On Restraining Order
Anansa and David have three kids together. Ava Brielle Patterson, 11, David Bernard Patterson III who is turning 10 in November and Benjamin Patterson, 8. They were married from July 2010 to 2017. She also has a 4-year-old son, Ashton, with Matt Barnes.
Reportedly, a judge did not order Barnes restrained from the group but set a hearing to hear each side of the story on November 4, 2022.
