Drake Calls AI-Created ‘Munch’ Vocals ‘The Final Straw’ As Universal Music Group Slams The Technology

Reportedly, UMG execs “have become aware that certain AI systems might have been trained on copyrighted content without obtaining the required consent forms, or paying compensation to the rightsholders who own or produce the content.”

As a result, the company notes that it has “a moral and commercial responsibility” to intervene. In fact, UMG wants streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify to “prevent their services from being used in ways that harm artists.”

“We have a moral and commercial responsibility to our artists to work to prevent the unauthorized use of their music and to stop platforms from ingesting content that violates the rights of artists and other creators. We expect our platform partners will want to prevent their services from being used in ways that harm artists.”

UMG’s statement definitely isn’t coming out of the blue, as numerous tracks have surfaced online that feature stars singing other artists’ hits.

Humorously, one AI-generated bop featured Drake rapping “Munch” by Ice Spice.

On top of Drake rapping “Munch,” some other AI-generated bops feature Rihanna singing “Cuff It” by Beyoncé, Travis Scott taking on Pop Smoke‘s “For the Night,” and Kanye West singing “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber.

In fact, Keke Palmer went as far as to proclaim, “That Rihanna AI is eating y’all songs up.”

With the “Rihanna AI” taking on songs from artists like Drake, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Lana Del Rey, SZA, Omi, and Tems, there are definitely a plethora of options for fans to check out!
