Roomies are you ready for this!? Designer Shawn Oliver launched an unforgettable show this past NYFW based on the hit series ‘Empire’ and just like the show the pieces were definitely amazing! We’re talking from the best lines said by the sassy Cookie Lyon to the ironic clothing-of-choice inspired by Jamal Lyon as a little boy wearing heels!
“I’m doing it because America is ready for that, don’t you think?” Oliver told Mashable. Caitlyn Jenner prepared America for it and, honey, yes, they are ready.”
Oliver is known for carrying a sense of aesthetics, muted colors while mixing street meets high-fashion into his designs but this one by far has to take the cake!
According to fashionista.com ‘Hood by Air’ announced it’s opening collection inspired by catchphrases that literally stole the show and making the hit series even more memorable to you. The designer collection has character images plastered on sweatshirts and even props that can now be worn as a fashion statement all based on the “Empire” series. There’s one prop from Season 1 when Cookie Lyon tried to kill Luscious with a pillow, and it’s now brought to life as an actual “pillow” backpack based on that scene.
The collection brings forth hoodies, accessories, souvenir items, dresses, and even a $200 satin robe with the catch phrase embroidered on the back stating “I want what’s mine,” Cookie’s all-time diva line that got almost everyone realizing she ain’t just any regular broad!
