Vice President Kamala Harris recently phoned the family of police shooting victim Sonya Massey. NBC News reports her relatives were comforted by the former prosecutor’s considerate call.

Kamala Harris Calls Sonya Massey’s Family
The Massey family was reportedly grateful that Harris took the time to contact them after the tragic death of their loved one. As previously reported by The Shade Room, Sonya was gunned down in her home by former police officer Sean Grayson after calling 911 on suspicions of a break-in at her home.
Sonya’s father stated Kamala “gave her heartfelt condolences.” He said it “made [him] feel a lot better” that day. Additionally, Massey’s dad shared that the 59-year-old said “she was 100% with them” and the “senseless killing must stop.”

Furthermore, he expressed Kamala’s concern about the hiring and transferring of police officers. She wants to end the practice of cops “shopping job to job.” Harris believes they shouldn’t be allowed “to go from one department to the next department, being passed around in order to save money…” He also said Kamala added, “You’re allowed to resign from one department, and then you get a job in the next department. And if that were to stop, then [Sonya] would still be alive.”
Sonya’s son, Malachi Hill, said he sobbed as Kamala spoke. He later stated, “I got very emotional. Like, I don’t know. I started crying. Like this, this is crazy. I don’t have no words for this, honestly.”
Additionally, Sonya Massey’s cousin, Shadia Massey, said the call “meant the world to my family right now.” She said, “It definitely broke every last one of us down. Out of all the phone calls, all the thousands of messages, and phone calls and inboxes, this one here really meant the world to our family.
She added, “It was her voice for me.” Shadia was baffled that she “[took] time out of her busy schedule to just make that one little phone call to our family, that meant the world to me.”
