Diddy’s trial has kept us all glued to our phones these past two months. Now that the gavel has dropped following the verdict, Judge Mathis is weighing in with his take on Diddy’s fate. In a new Instagram video, Mathis breaks down the judgment. He shares his thoughts on the charges and reminds us how he correctly predicted part of the verdict weeks before.

Judge Mathis Talks About Respecting The Jury’s Decision

In his IG video on Wednesday, July 2, Judge Mathis didn’t hold back while addressing Diddy’s high-profile verdict. “By now, you know that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been convicted of interstate transportation of prostitutes, two counts, and has been denied bail,” Mathis stated. He made it clear he was left troubled by the allegations of assaults against women during the trial, especially Black women, saying, “I really am concerned about the assaults against the women, particularly disrespecting Black women as such.” But in true judge fashion, he emphasized respecting the jury’s decision, focusing strictly on what Diddy was convicted of.

Mathis broke down the sentencing guidelines in a way that only he can. He noted that, as a first-time offender, Sean Combs could face 21 to 27 months in prison per count. But he raised a popular question. Will the sentences run concurrently or consecutively? Mathis hints that the judge might deviate from standard guidelines. “We’ll see in the future,” he teased.

Mathis Called It By Predicting Diddy’s Conviction

In June, during an episode of ‘The Mathis Verdict’ with his son Amir, Judge Mathis dropped a bold prediction about Diddy’s case. He said if it were a state case under his gavel, he’d sentence Diddy to 5 to 10 years based on the evidence provided in the trial at that point. But more importantly, he nailed the federal outcome. Mathis predicted Combs would be convicted on his interstate transportation of prostitutes charges and the jury proved him right!

Mathis’ legal instincts were also on point when he foresaw the prosecution’s struggle to pin the heavier racketeering and sex trafficking charges on Combs. It now begs the question… could his prediction on Diddy’s sentencing also be right?

If the trial ended today -Judge Mathis only ses one FEDERAL charge that would stick. The statue of limitation has passed for any state crimes committed. #mathisverdict #judgemathis #amirmathis #diddy @judgegregmathis @amirmathis

Diddy’s Verdict: Guilty On Prostitution Charges, Cleared Of Others

On Wednesday, July 2, after a seven-week trial, a Manhattan federal jury delivered a verdict in Diddy’s trial. The hip-hop mogul was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, tied to his ex-girlfriend Cassie and a woman known as “Jane.”

These charges, under the Mann Act, involve transporting individuals across state lines for paid sexual encounters. They each carry a maximum of 10 years in prison. It’s important to note that Diddy was acquitted on the heavy-hitting charges of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking, which could’ve landed him behind bars for life.

Fans outside the courtroom erupted when the “not guilty” verdicts were dropped. Diddy’s family was seen smiling as they left the courthouse, and his legal team called it a victory. Despite the wins, Judge Arun Subramanian denied bail, citing Diddy’s history of violence. The rap mogul will remain locked up at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center until his sentencing on October 3. Prosecutors are seeking a term of 51 to 63 months. But Puffy’s team is advocating for a shorter term of 21 to 27 months.
