Kim K Calls Out ICE Raids
On Thursday, August 28, Kardashian expressed her concern about the ICE raids during a speech at the DVF Awards. While being honored for her work on prison reform, Kim addressed how the media is apparently using the raids as a way to protect the country. However, Kim believes the reality is far from that.
In her speech, Kim Kardashian reportedly said:
“In the news you hear, ‘Oh, it’s about people who have committed these crimes and they’re trying to help out our country,’” according to Variety. “But then you hear about all of the people who have worked so hard to build our country, and so many people that are such a part of our country getting affected. People I know. People my friends know.”
The White House Wasn’t Feelin’ It
Her comments didn’t sit well with everyone, especially with Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. In a response shared with TMZ, McLaughlin slammed Kardashian, calling her “misinformed” and “detached” from the realities of the operations. McLaughlin went on to defend the ICE raids, stating that they targeted violent criminals, including murderers, rapists, gang members, and child predators.
“Why does Ms. Kardashian continue to do the bidding of criminals at the expense of innocent Americans and brave law enforcement?” McLaughlin fired back.
