Waka Flocka Flame is more than ready to welcome his first biological child and son, Joaquin Jr. The rapper shared the news amid celebrating his 40th birthday this past weekend. Despite Jr. being his first blood-related child, he won’t be Waka’s first experience with fatherhood. Waka has reportedly been a bonus dad to Tammy Rivera‘s daughter, Charlie, since she was 6! Even with Waka Flocka and Tammy’s on-and-off relationship and later divorce, the rapper has seemingly always remained committed to Charlie. Here’s a recap of five sweet moments the father and daughter have shared over the years!

1. When Charlie Asked Waka Flocka To Adopt Her
We HAD to start with this moment! The emotion and energy? Priceless. During the season two finale of the reality show ‘Waka & Tammy: What The Flocka,’ Charlie gathered loved ones and gave a sweet speech about Waka’s role in her life. The episode aired in May 2021. “You taught me how to be the woman I am today,” she said at one point, tears streaming down her face, as people in the room, like Waka’s mom, sobbed, too. After Waka got up to comfort his emotional daughter, he told her she’s his breath. Then, she presented him with a cake that read, “Will you adopt me?” and then asked him the question directly, which shocked him. It’s unclear if they ever went through with formal paperwork.
2. When Waka Comforted Charlie At Her Quinceañera
Charlie’s 15th birthday party was another moment featured on the ex-couple’s reality TV show. During the celebration, she appeared to be emotional about her biological dad not showing up. But Waka quickly stepped in and reassured her that he was there and she’d be okay. In a confessional, Tammy Rivera credited Waka Flocka Flame for always showing up for Charlie!
“Waka stepping up in Charlie’s life, it never gets old. So it doesn’t matter if Charlie’s father didn’t show up because this is her father and this is what fathers do,” Tammy said about Waka. Later in the episode, she added, “This is what he does. This isn’t new. This is what he does. He’s always…like that knight in shining armor. He’s just there when he’s supposed to be. And he shows up and he shows out. And she knows she’s loved.”
3. When He Helped Buy Charlie’s First Condo
Last year, 20-year-old Charlie was ready for her own spot and her parents came together to make it happen! On Instagram, Tammy Rivera credited Waka Flocka for seeing Charlie’s dream through.
“Imagine the first time you move out on your own, you’re buying a condo PAID IN FULL! Thanks to dad @wakaflocka and most importantly God! No mortgage shawty! I’m soo happy and proud of you lil mama! You deserve it all! You grown, grown!”
Charlie also posted about the purchase, bragging about having no mortgage or HOA fees. “Forever grateful to God for blessing me and my parents but especially my dad,” she wrote. On his Instagram, he posted a photo with Charlie and her solo on closing day. His caption read, “The realest way we going all the way thru der 🔑 one of many my babygirl all grown up 🥲❤️ #ProudDad.”
