#TSRPositiveImages: Group Of Bystanders Rescued Florida Mother And Infant Son After Their SUV Crashed Into A Pond

It always warms my heart when people come together to help out a stranger. One particular selfless act that deserves recognition happened in #Florida last week where a group of bystanders pulled off a water rescue, saving a woman and her infant son.

Authorities say the woman lost control of her SUV on an on-ramp, causing her to crash into a pond in #Lauderhill, Florida. That’s when a group of good Samaritans sprung into action and pulled the woman and her 4-month-old son out of the water, according to @local10news.

The woman and her son were rushed to a hospital where they were treated for injuries that thankfully were only minor. One of the first responder to help was a landscaper who said he was working a job in the area when he saw the SUV plunge into the water.

Miguel Enrique said he and his supervisor stopped their truck to help the victims. He dove into the water and first grabbed the baby and handed him to a bystander before helping the mother to safety. But the father of three says he’s no hero, that he only did what he would expect someone else to do for his family.

Divers went into the water to make sure nobody else was inside before rescuers towed the SUV out of the pond.

The mother told authorities she was cut off by another vehicle and hit the brakes but lost control and drove over some grass and into the water.

After the rescue, Enrique declined to take the rest of the day off, said his manager Betty Gerdts, the Sun-Sentinal reports.

“I told him, ‘No, go home, change, take the day,’” she said. “And he says, ‘No, I’m going to change and go back,’ and that’s what he did. He’s been with us for a while. We love him.”

What a good spirit that man has!
