Roommates, Paul Allard Hodgkins, has just received the first felony sentence regarding the U.S. Capitol Riots back in January. He was formally sentenced earlier today to 8 months in prison for his role in the U.S. Capitol Riots that left multiple people dead and dozens injured when hundreds of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol.

Paul Allard Hodgkins, 38, from Tampa, Florida, who was seen in various viral photos from the U.S. Capitol Riots, has now been sentenced on felony charges for his role in the deadly insurrection. Hodgkins was initially arrested back in February and pled guilty last month to one felony count of obstructing an official proceeding, which carried a maximum sentence of 20 years. However, Hodgkins won’t serve anywhere near that amount—as U.S. District Court Judge Randolph Moss formally sentenced him to only 8 months in prison.

Hodgkins lawyer, Patrick Leduc, begged the judge for leniency, saying he is a “law abiding, hardworking, honest, caring, kind, thoughtful, generous, and the kind of person you would want for a neighbor. [He] lost his bearings and his way … made a fateful decision to follow the crowd and found himself for approximately 15 minutes in a place that he sincerely regrets to have been.”

Meanwhile, Paul Allard Hodgkins expressed remorse for his actions during his sentencing:

“I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I am truly remorseful and regretful for my actions, not because I face consequences but because of the damage that day’s incident caused and the way this country that I love has been hurt.”

He continued adding, “I realize that my involvement did still contribute to the greater problem that took place. The company of us who remained calmer in our protests may have made others feel emboldened.”
