Ace Hood Is In His Healed King Era
During a recent interview on Cam Newton’s ‘Funky Friday’ podcast, Ace Hood got real about growth, temptation, and what marriage has taught him — and let’s just say, the glow-up is spiritual. The rapper opened up about how his mindset has shifted over the years, admitting that in the past, he fell into the same traps as many young men in the industry — chasing attention, living fast, and letting ego lead. But now? He says he’s operating from a whole different frequency.
“Before my wife came into my life, I was the boy,” Ace Hood can be heard telling Cam Newton. “I’ve had my fair share of women, doing whatever I want…having fun.” And when it comes to temptation, discipline and self-worth are what keep him grounded. “In terms of being in a marriage, for me…imma take that serious. I don’t play with marriage, I’m not that type of guy.” He concluded with, “If we gone get married, we gone do this, we locking in. That’s how I hold out on the temptation bro, I respect mine no matter where I go.”

In the throwback moment, she got emotional while calling out the lack of stable homes in the Black community — specifically pointing to how Black women are often disrespected while the glorification of multiple partners gets praised. “At what point in the Black community do our men create real homes?” she asked, reflecting on how the men in her own family used to show up and hold it down.
The music icon even addressed Cam directly, saying as a successful Black man, he has the platform and power to help change that narrative. Her message? It’s time for Black men to step up, protect Black women, and start building real families again.
