Roommates, I think it’s safe to say the internet as a whole is so upset after it has been confirmed that Ashanti and Keyshia Cole will have their ‘Verzuz’ battle postponed due to Ashanti catching COVID-19! The news came just a few hours before the festivities were set to begin and simply put…people were not taking it very well. The Jasmine Brand exclusively reported the postponement. Shortly after, Ashanti took to Instagram to confirm the reports and suggest that she’d still be willing to participate in a battle tonight. See what she had to say below:
That didn’t last long, cause Ashanti went on Instagram Live about 20 minutes later to really spill tea on the events that transpired.
Now, if you didn’t know, just days before Ashanti was set to battle Keyshia Cole, she took a trip to Kenya and may people were speculating online if she’d get back to the United States on time to do the battle. So much speculation, that Ashanti had to clear the air! She very explicitly said she didn’t catch the coronavirus because of her travels, instead she apparently hugged a family member who was positive and was unaware of their status. Things got even ore interesting after, both Keyshia and Ashanti hopped on Instagram Live to further explain the situation and really show support for one another given the last minute news. Keyshia seemed to be very supportive of Ashanti’s well being and confirmed that the night would be a celebration of two incredible women with incredible music. See their conversation below:
