August Alsina Talks About His Decision To Open Up About His Past Relationship With Jada Pinkett Smith

Ya’ll know 2020 has been a hell of a year, and Jada Pinkett-Smith admitting to being in an entanglement with August Alsina was just one of the many things on the ever-growing list. However, if you all recall, the topic came about after August first spoke about it in an interview with Angela Yee.

Now August is speaking about his decision to open up about his past romantic relationship with Jada. In an interview with People, he said, “I never really cared about what people thought of me, but my personal life started to seep into my business life. There were certain falsities about me, and it affected my business relationships.”

He continued, “I could understand why it would look like I’m reckless or disrespectful so it really started to affect my livelihood, and I’m never okay with that. I got three kids to look after. Kill me, hate me, stone me, but bury me an honest man. All I can do is tell the truth.”

As mentioned in our exclusive interview, August is now the legal guardian of his three nieces. His brother, their father, was murdered back in 2010, and their mother, unfortunately, passed away on Christmas Day in 2018.

“I’m always going to be in the driver’s seat of my life and control my narrative. I can’t let anybody else do that for me,” said August.

After speaking about his relationship with Jada back in July, Jada and Will Smith spoke about the situation from their perspective during a special episode of “Red Table Talk.” As we previously reported, Jada and Will admitted they were going through a rough time within their marriage at a certain point, and Jada admitted to being in an entanglement with August.

August and Jada had first met in 2015 at Willow and Jaden Smith’s concert in  London, and what was a friendship, soon turned into a romantic relationship.

August had previously stated, “I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life. I devoted myself to it, I gave my full self to it — so much so to the point that I can die right now and be okay with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.”

Following the Smith’s episode about the situation, August released his single “Entanglements” featuring Rick Ross and addressed the backlash he received from it.

He said, “It was cool when people were able to use it as a mockery of me, like, ‘Oh, you’re an entanglement.’ When I flipped it, it became a problem for people. Like, ‘Oh, you’re clout-chasing.’ I’m just doing business. It’s not personal.”

Despite it all, there are no hard feelings between August and the Smiths, stating, “It’s just a part of life, and it’s a part of the journey. There’s a lot of love there. Sometimes the truth is complicated and difficult. But [my relationship with them isn’t] broken at all.”
