Boxing Champion Errol Spence Jr. Seriously Injured In Car Crash

#Roommates, we are sending our prayers to boxing champion Errol Spence Jr. after he has been identified as the driver that has been seriously hurt following a car crash in Dallas.

According to CBS 11, the crash occurred just after 3am and only involved one vehicle. The crash occurred on South Riverfront Boulevard near downtown Dallas. Police say the vehicle was traveling at a high-speed rate when it went over the center median and flipped multiple times, ejecting the driver. The driver was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.

Police say the driver was taken to the hospital in serious condition and is expected to survive. The driver’s identity was not officially released, but sources close to Errol confirmed that he was involved in the crash. Police are continuing to investigate exactly what caused the accident.

Errol, who is a  welterweight champion, had his last fight on September 28th against Shawn Porter, bringing his record to 26-0. He won the IBF welterweight title in May of 2017 and has defended the title ever since.

Errol’s management team, Premier Boxing Champions later released a statement and said:

“Errol Spence is awake and responding and his condition is listed as stable. He did not sustain any broken bones or fractures but has some facial lacerations. He is expected to make a full recovery.

He is currently resting with his family by his side. They want to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes and are extremely grateful to the Dallas first responders who rushed to the scene to attend to Errol
after the accident and the doctors who are taking care of him at the hospital.”

We’ll continue to keep you updated.
